Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Cassia Leo comes an epic love story about rewriting destiny.

Over the course of five years, Mikki and Crush cross paths on three separate occasions. Their first encounter changes Mikki's life forever, but their second meeting leaves them both buried beneath the emotional wreckage of a violent attack. Mikki is left with more questions and grief than she can handle, while Crush is forced to forget the girl who saved his life.

Now 19 years old, Mikki Gladstone has decided she's tired of the mind-numbing meds. She books a flight to Los Angeles to end her life far away from her loving, though often distant, family.

Twenty-one-year-old Crush has always channeled his blackest thoughts into his music, but he's never had great aspirations. He decides to fly to Los Angeles to record a demo of the only song he's never performed in public; a song he wrote for a girl he doesn't even know: Black Box. He has no expectations of fame, and he's never felt like his life had any purpose...until he meets Mikki in Terminal B.

When Mikki and Crush cross paths for the third time in Terminal B, neither has any idea who the other person is; until they slowly piece together their history and realize that fate has more in store for them than just another love story.

Be prepared to break apart, fall in love and heal

If you could sum up Black Box in three words, what would they be?

True to life

Any additional comments?

Cassia Leo writes stories about REAL real life. They are not your typical boy meets girl and they fall in love stories. They are not your typical HEA's. They will break you down, tear your heart apart, and eventually if you are lucky they will mend it all back together better than new but be prepared because Cassia breaks all the rules and tells it like it is. She does not write for the faint of heart. She write for readers who know loss, who have been broken and need to know that there are others out there that understand their issues, real issues, from real life not the standard book stuff but the stuff that really reaches in to the deep recesses of your heart where the shadows lie. If you are ready to feel then don't miss out on this amazing love story!!!

Wow, great story!

Loved this story! Black Box has suspense, romance, danger, excitement, love & trust in it.

Black Box is about a young girl who was brutally raped and left for dead and then rescued by the man she will marry years down the road. Their paths keep crossing yet they never knew it. Read along with Mikki and Crush as their worlds collide and they both find a reason to go on.

This is my first read by author Cassia Leo. Cassia did a great job on this story. The plot got my attention and held it thru the entire book. The plane crash was super exciting - I was on the edge of my seat! The narrators, Jeffrey Kafer and Christa Lewis did a superb job delivering this story flawlessly! With all their multiple voices and accents, I found this book very believable and entertaining! Good job all!

Crushing fate

A love that grows as much from music as from tragedy. When her world went black she was drowned by the demon that lived inside of her. When his world seemed bleak and the voicing were screaming inside him he reach out into the social media world for support and came away with a new outlook. There fate was bound by an invisible web of circumstances where they cheated fate.

Overall:
The message was delivered well. My issue as with these type of stories is how broken characters are always drawn to other broken characters as if a broken character is unworthy of finding a healthy love outside that darkness.
I was skeptical of the social media connection. It was kind of unclear initially when it was mentioned then later when it was further explained I just thought really. That was a stretch of the imagination.
The incident on the plane was a little too extreme in my opinion. I get Cassia was reaching with a way to show that her female character wasn’t really for her world to end that way.

Narrator:
Jeffrey Kafer narrated the voice of Crush. Let me just say I kept hearing Charlie Sheens voice come thru. An excellent performance.
Christa Lewis narrated the voice of Mikki. Good tone. Good sound quality.
Together these two narrators brought Black Box to life.

Wow!

I had previously only heard one trilogy work by this author but enjoyed that story so much that I wanted to hear more. Did not realize what this story dealt with until into it. Despite the difficulty in continuing to listen I was glad I persevered because I was so touched at the author's gentle telling of this story. I appreciated, because of personal experience, the profound beauty that came through in this touching love story proving to me that I want to read more from this gifted author.

WOW!

What a beautifully written book of lost hope, found love, and HEA. The road to HEA was not easy and the HEA is not a typical one but this story will just grab your heart. I loved this listen.
Narrators are a first for be but i really enjoyed them, they definitely brought this story to life,

Lost... but now I've been found!

Any additional comments?

I almost DNF this one, because I was so confused that I was like uhh.. okay, but once I reached the airplane scene it was smooth sailing. It was a very depressing book, I can tell you that but..... it ended with a happy ending.

Two broken lost souls reunite not after 2 but the 3rd time fate brought them together. This book reminded me a little of Final Destination where both were skipping there ultimate ending. Except this time around two young adults learn what death could really mean.

Mikki and Crush meet again, after a plane delay leaving them together not by choice but by destiny, both seek each other's trust, and discover that even thou death was there ultimate goal, love defeated their odds. Both Mikki and Crush had two things in common- death and the black box. I'm still confused little about the Black Box, but over all it ended well.

Narrators in this story were great, they made you feel like Mikki and Crush's world were going to end, done in duel narration.

I actually would love it if she DID end it.

People like this, who prefer to focus on their own misery, are actually a waste of human flesh. Add the drug abuse, even better. Having worked with people who were victims of people who abused drugs--substance abusers emotional trash is just that, trash. Yeah yeah, I know...they are often victims of trauma...yeah and yeah. No longer care. Let's NOT write books victimizing them. Let's write books about the hapless victims: the people who have to be around them.
